Newport is a small market town on the Shropshire and Staffordshire border. Famous for its spectacular one day Agricultural show - the best in Shropshire, the Newport Show happens each July and has many attractions including the Festival of Food and the Cookery Theatre which features renowned chefs.

A clue to some of the origins of Newport is on the Newport coat of arms which features three fish, as the town used to have a royal charter to supply fish to the Royal Family and in Roman times there were a number of fisheries in the area which made the town a trading stop on the Chester to Colchester road.
